SIKESTON - A complete remodeling project is slated for the J.C. Penney store on North New Madrid St. A 50-by-70-foot basement will be added beneath the store. The building is owned by the Matthews estate.
CHARLESTON - Ralph Boyer Construction of Sikeston has contracted to build a $500,000 nursing home containing 100 beds. The structure is being built on Marshall Street. It should be completed by December.
SIKESTON - The annual Rotary Club auction will be televised on access channel 12 and broadcast on KSIM. Proceeds from the event go to Rotary projects.

John Dennis (D-Benton) simply calls himself a lucky man who has never lost an election after 40 years of public service - 24 years as a Scott County sheriff, 16 as a senator from Southeast Missouri's Bootheel. The retiring lawmaker took a look at achievements during the last 40 years.
SIKESTON - Katie Felker, a member of the ninth grade EAGLE team, performed during the team's rendition of "Alice in OMerland." The Team's presentation won second place in the regional Odyssey of the Mind Competition Saturday. The ninth grade team and the eighth grade team earned the right to compete in the OM state competition April 11 in Fulton. A win there advances a team to the world finals in Boulder, Colo., in May.

SIKESTON - Two Sikeston chapters of Beta Sigma Phi recently crowned their 1992 Valentine's Day queens. Peggy Pearson was crowned by the Delta Gamma chapter and Nancy Wyner was crowned by the Xi Zeta Alpha chapter.
