SIKESTON - Mrs. Joe Leslie entertained a group of children at a party Saturday afternoon at her home in honor of the fourth birthday anniversary of her son, Rikki, which occurred the following Monday.

SIKESTON - The new Holiday Inn is in the final stages of building. Construction was held up by subcontractors, who were delayed in receiving material, according to the field superintendent John Haguewood. The first of the 130 units will be completed by Nov. 16.

POPLAR BLUFF - Jeff Schwab, formerly of Sikeston and Charleston, has been named district scout executive for Osage and Seminole districts of the Boy Scouts of America. Schwab, 22, will coordinate activities of more than 1,100 scouts in 52 scouting units in several Southeast Missouri counties. A 1979 graduate of Sikeston High School, he is an Eagle Scout in Troop 44 in Sikeston and began his scouting career as a Cub Scout in Charleston.

SIKESTON - Two persons were injured after a vehicle they allegedly had stolen crashed into an embankment. At 6:05 p.m. Sunday, Sikeston Department of Public Safety Sgt. Mark Hagen observed a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign on Ingram and Ables Road. Hagan began pursuing the vehicle which fled, skidding through the intersection of East Malone and Dona. The vehicle became airborne and struck an embankment. Sustaining serious injuries were the driver from West Columbia, S.C., and a passenger from Portageville. Both were taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital and are reportedly in stable condition. According to DPS, warrants are being sought on auto theft and second degree assault.
