CHARLESTON -- Police are investigating a shooting over Memorial Day weekend that left five people wounded in a Mississippi County nightclub.
Cpt. Robert Hearnes, with the Charleston Department of Public Safety, said his agency was called to Lil' Bro's Nightclub shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.
He said officers found three men and two women suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
''Apparently, at least one subject started firing a gun inside the nightclub,'' he said.
Hearnes said when officers arrived, the parking lot was packed with an unruly crowd of about 150 to 200 people.
Charleston, which had four officers at the scene, called in three other law enforcement agencies for assistance.
Four arrests were made for rioting and refusing to disperse. Hearnes said Monday night an additional arrest had been made in the shooting.
Charleston DPS officials said earlier today the investigation is continuing and there may be more suspects arrested in the near future.
