SIKESTON - Vela Mae Polley, 80, died at 1:37 a.m. March 1, 2005, at the Clearview Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 5, 1924, in Sikeston, daughter of the late Everett and Gladys Wilson Harbison, she was a member of the Murray Lane Baptist Church. She retired from the housekeeping department at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
On Feb. 15, 1941, she married Joseph Cullen Polley, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1994.
Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Helen Bratch, one brother, two sisters and one granddaughter.
Survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul and Ellen Polley of Sikeston, Guy and Mona Polley of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Doug Polley of Sikeston; one daughter and two sons-in-law, Jeanette and Chester Bell of Sikeston and Kenneth Bratch of Catawissa; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Frankie Harbison of Paducah, Ky.; one sister, Wilma Dubar of Paducah; a special friend, Henry Covey of Sikeston; and 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Bell, Keith Bratch, Eric Bratch, Chris Polley, Stephen Polley, Jody Polley and Josh Polley.
