SIKESTON - Victor Shaver, 74, died at 3:25 p.m. May 29, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 25, 1929, in Ingram, Ark., son of the late Joe and Edna Meredith Shaver, he was a member of the First Christian Church in Sikeston. He was a surveyor with the Missouri State Highway Department for 25 years and veteran of the U.S. Army.

On April 17, 1954, in DeSoto County, Ark., he married Louise Smith who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Donna Shaver of Jackson; one brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Joe Meredith and Bea Shaver of San Antonio, Texas; and two granddaughters, Amy Shaver of Sikeston and Lindsay Spencer of Jackson.

Preceding him in death were one brother, Quinton Shaver; and one sister, Iverne Haley.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Mary McCord, associate pastor of the First Christian Church of Sikeston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Paul Wise, Bryan Snider, Bob Madlock, James Burchfield, Dennis Reed and Clifford Price.
