SIKESTON - Mary E. Mitchell, 76, died Feb. 26, 2005, at the Clearview Nursing Center.
Born April 30, 1926, in Walls, Miss., daughter of the late Zingo and Essie Sloan, she lived in Missouri since 1955 and was a retired cook. She was a member of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston.
Her husband, Jimmie Mitchell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include: her stepmother, Roberta Sloan of Wyatt; one son and daughter-in-law, Willie and Rita Savage of Sikeston; two daughters, Maxine Johnson of Sikeston and Mary Wright of Atlanta; four sisters, Lillian Bankhead and Essie Greer of Wyatt and Ethel Lee Sloan and Ophelia Locus of Milwaukee; seven brothers, Johnny Sloan of Hernando, Miss., Bobby Sloan and Frank Sloan of Milwaukee and Larry Sloan, Lindsay Sloan, Jimmy Sloan and William Sloan of Wyatt; and 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Bessie M. Neal; three brothers; and three sisters, including Laura Davis.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. Saturday until service time at noon at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman Gardner officiating.
Burial will follow in Sunset of Memories Cemetery.
