CHARLESTON - Charleston Public Safety Department officers are seeking the public's help in determining who called in a bomb threat.
At approximately 6:10 a.m. Saturday, Charleston Department of Public Safety received a call from Country Mart Grocery.
The employees had received an indication that a bomb threat was being made involving their store. The first arriving officers evacuated the store and established a safety perimeter around the area. The Charleston Plaza was cordoned off and no one was allowed to enter.
When the area was cleared, the building was searched by Charleston Public Safety personnel. No evidence of a bomb or any explosive device was found after three successive searches were completed.
The store was turned back to the manager at 9 a.m.
The incident is currently, under investigation. False Bomb Reports are a Class D Felony and a very serious matter, officers added. Anyone with information should call the Charleston Department of Public Safety immediately (573-683-3737).
