CHAFFEE -- Bryan Kelpe of Cape Girardeau established a men's division record at the Tywappity Trails 5K Race, held near Chaffee, on Saturday.
Kelpe's time of 17:51 broke the previous mark, set last year by Ross Tilghman, by 25 seconds.
It was the second year in a row that the record has fallen, after being held for seven years by Mike Manning of Poplar Bluff.
Other top men, in order of finish, were Jody Ressel, Marcus LeGrand, Richard Wilson and Kevin Bartels.
Kaci Picher was the top female finisher with a time of 22:35. Peter Blums repeated as the Master's winner with a time of 26:57.
The race, an annual event sponsored by the Cape Road Runners and the Chaffee Chamber of Commerce, is the only trail run of its type in this area.
