PORTAGEVILLE - Everett Allan Chidester, 86, died May 28, 2003, at the Portageville Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 26, 1917, in Bell City, son of the late Henry and Pearl Sanders Chidester, he retired as custodian for the Hayti Water Plant.
In December 1934, he married Dorothy Dollins who preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Melvin Chidester of Benton and Lawrence Chidester of Hayti; six daughters, Arlene Morefield, Geraldine Keith, Barbara Ellis, Sue Forrester and Nora Sipes of Portageville and Frieda Geary of Kennett; four sisters, Nona Miller and Evie Toole of Poplar Bluff, Jean Skelton of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Pearl Cochran of Wichita, Kan.; and 48 grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were two daughters, Evelyn Johnson, Ellen Maness; and two sons, Elmer Chidester and Allen Lee Chidester.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Fridayat DeLisle Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Jerry Williams will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
