BELL CITY - Samuel "Nub" Alberson, 79, died July 31, 2004, at the John J. Pershing Veterans Administration Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born Oct. 25, 1924, in Corning, Ark., son of the late Frank Alberson and Mary Jones Cooper, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and member of the Sikeston Community Church.
On March 15, 1947, he married Charity Estella Griffin who survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by one son, Keith Alberson; and three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors in addition to his wife include: one son and two daughters-in-law, Sammy and Jean Alberson of Bell City and Shirley Willis of St. Louis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Jay Kruger and Melissa and Steven Hubbard of Sikeston; one brother, Larry Cooper of Blodgett; nine grandchildren, Tara Schaefer and Christina Wallace of Bell City, Deanna Scheible of Advance, Jason Kruger, Jared Kruger and Dustin Hubbard of Sikeston, Samuel Keith Alberson Jr. and Timothy Allen Alberson of California and James Michael Willis of St. Louis; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Alberson and Phillip Schaefer.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dolan Rogers, pastor of West End Baptist Church, will officiate.
Full graveside military honors will be conducted at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Buddy Alberson, Steve Alberson, Grant Willis, John Wright, Jeff Williams and Craig Cooper.
