SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Larry Shain have returned to Sikeston from St. Louis and expect to make their home here. Mr. Shain is employed at Walker's Grocery Store on Moore.

SIKESTON - The fire department made a run to Murray Lane Friday afternoon, responding to a fire at the home of Homer Beck. The roof fire caused about $10 worth of damage.

SCOTT CITY - Construction is progressing rapidly on the 24.2-mile stretch of Interstate 55 in Scott County - the longest section of this four-lane roadway in Missouri.

SIKESTON - Bob Fick recently accepted the Sikeston Pride Award on behalf of Imperial Bowling Lanes from the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce First Vice President Lee Stallings.

CHARLESTON - Mississippi County has been added to Missouri's federal disaster declaration for individual assistance list. The list, now totaling 79 counties in the state, means the residents there are eligible for a wide range of federal disaster relief programs, including low interest loans, state-federal grants and disaster unemployment assistance.

SIKESTON - Woodmen of the World from the Maple Leaf Lodge 920 of Sikeston made their annual presentations recently. Brenda Bowlin of East Prairie and James Smith of Charleston each received the Good Neighbor Citation; Sylvia Bell of Sikeston was presented a CPR Award; and Woodrow Wilson Jr. of Sikeston received a Lifesaver Commendation Award. Renee Wilson of Sikeston was also presented an award from Woodmen of the World.
