EAST PRAIRIE - Mr. and Mrs. Herman Daniel were notified through the American Red Cross Friday that their son, Cpl. Clarence Daniel, who was reported missing in the European War Theater Feb. 12, is alive and is being held a prisoner of war in Germany.
SIKESTON - In the election of the state officers of the Missouri Future Farmers of America in Columbia today, John Koch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Markus Koch of Sikeston, was elected one of six vice presidents. He is a senior at Matthews High School.
EAST PRAIRIE - Monday evening was filled with surprise, emotion and a few tears as 14 outstanding citizens were honored at the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Man and Woman of the Year honors went to Monty McTigue and Mary Henley. McTigue has been involved in community activities for many years and Henley was honored as "a dedicated mother, foster mother and an inspiration to those who know her." She has been a foster mother for about 15 years.
SIKESTON - Sikeston High School students will present "Bye Bye Birdie" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Field House.
