SIKESTON - Two Sikeston lawyers have been selected to serve as lecturers on the faculty of The Missouri Bar Fall Series of Continuing Legal Education. David E. Blanton will lecture on "Handling Real Estate in the Estates of Descendants, Minors and Incompetents," and Robert A. Dempster will discuss "Current Methods of Real Estate Financing."

NEW MADRID - Concluding the New Madrid American Legion Fall Festival Saturday evening was the selection of Tracey Murphy, 16, as Miss American Legion who was elected from among 17 contestants. Miss Murphy is the daughter of Gene and Carlene Murphy of Gideon. First runner-up was Beth Fowler, 19, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fowler of New Madrid.

SIKESTON - Kathryn Felker was crowned Miss Sikeston at the 50th Annual American Legion Cotton Carnival Friday night. Her court includes: fifth runner-up Heather Bollinger; fourth runner-up Kristen Deane; third runner-up Jamie Lancaster; second runner-up Jennifer McDowell; and first runner-up Frannie Trum.

SIKESTON - Sikeston Convalescent Center was awarded the grand prize of the float competition in Saturday's Cotton Carnival Parade. Dixon Brown won second prize and the third prize went to Moving Wall. The winners of the fourth prize was Girl Scout Troop Number 166.
