SIKESTON -- Jeanne E. Burchfield, 76, died at 12:57 a.m. May 21, 2005, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 5, 1928, in St. Louis, to the late James L. and Ora Lee Morehead Maxwell, she was a housewife and homemaker. A graduate of Diehlstadt High School, she lived in the Los Angeles, Calif., area for 30 years. She moved to Sikeston in 1979, was a Prudential Insurance agent for 12 years and retired in 1991. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She was formerly married to Paul A. House. On Feb. 12, 1983, in Sikeston, she married Garland C. Burchfield, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2001.
Survivors include: one daughter, Barbara J. Cahoon of Vacaville, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Sue Adkins of Kansas City; one brother, Robert Maxwell of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Lora Mae Meeks and Louise Sweet of Bertrand and Doris Bone of Charleston; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Linda Suzanne McCullough, also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Rick Lasley, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Johnathan Sauceda, Tony Sweet, Maxwell Sweet, Gary Meeks, Daniel Meeks and Randy Thompson.
