I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the vendors that participated in our Ninth Annual Business Education Expo. Our 2004 participants included: Truman State University, Steward Steel, Sikeston Area Higher Education Center, Three Rivers Community College, Metro Business College, Health Facilities Rehabilitation Services, Missouri Army National Guard, SEMO.Net, KBXB and KRHW, ESI.Comm, ITT Technical Institute, Shawnee Community College, YMCA, Missouri Career Center/Workforce Investment Board, Mississippi River Radio, US Bank, Manpower Inc., Southeast Missouri State University, Kenny Rogers Children's Center, DeWitt Company, The First National Bank, SEMO Health Network, Mission Missouri, the Army, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Sikeston Public Schools, American Cancer Society, Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Associated Electric, MERS Goodwill, Bulldog Financial Center, Galaxy Cable Inc., Pepsi, Bootheel Healthy Start, Health Systems Inc., Missouri Delta Medical Center and Bodyworks.

SACC appreciates the time the businesses and organizations spent talking to the public and students from 15 area high schools about their products and career opportunities. It is important we promote what we have to offer and encourage our young people to live and work in the Sikeston/Miner areas.

Now the Chamber staff and volunteers are focusing attention on our 54th Annual Awards Banquet scheduled for Thursday, April 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Sikeston Senior High Fieldhouse. The theme for this year's event is "Hand in Hand Together We Stand" and is dedicated to the men and women serving with the 1140th Combat Engineer Battalion.

The Chamber will be giving our awards in the following categories: Educator of the Year, SACC Volunteer of the Year, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, Sikeston Jaycees Distinguished Service Award, Civic Group of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year. Our master of ceremonies will be Steve McPheeters with the meal catered by Pat and John Irons of Trisha's Catering. Tickets are now on sale through the SACC office.

It is always a great evening of good food and good fun recognizing our fellow residents for all their efforts in making Sikeston a better place to live. We hope to see you there.
