BENTON - Bids for this year's Scott County Road and Bridge Department materials were accepted by county commissioners during their regular meeting Tuesday.
On premixed asphalt, the price is about the same as last year, according to Commissioner Jamie Burger. "The oil we use is slightly lower, too," he added.
Delta Asphalt Inc. of Cape Girardeau was awarded the asphalt contract with the low bid of $20.50 per ton.
Gravel and rock bids were all awarded to Southwest Stone of Cape Girardeau with prices ranging from $3-$5 per ton except for the rip-rap bid which went to Strack of Cape Girardeau, which offered a lower bid of $5.50 per ton.
In other county business Tuesday, one-year extensions on service contracts for the jail and courthouse elevators were approved by commissioners. The cost is $657 per quarter for the jail elevator and $568 per quarter for the courthouse elevator.
Commissioners also discussed an upcoming meeting with the Scott City mayor and economic developer scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday.
The meeting's topic will be the proposed outer-road project between Scott City and Cape Girardeau County Road AB along the east side of Interstate 55.
