SIKESTON - City Council members approved a bill accepting the donation of 1312 Murray Lane during this morning's special briefing session.

The owners, Grady and Bernice Evans, offered to donate the vacant lot to the city, according to City Manager Doug Friend.

While the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority is looking at expanding, the vacant lot is presently outside the LCRA's target area so the city will "keep it and maintain it until we can dispose of it," Friend said.

City staff advised accepting the property will be "economically and socially beneficial to the city."

The Council was also briefed by Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden on upcoming vehicle purchases.
