NEW MADRID -- Dr. Jodi Rae Glaus and Scott Pingel were married June 7, 2003, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. David Hulshof, who was assisted by Monsignor Michael Swalina. Lectors for the ceremony were Dr. Christine Kistler of Clinton, Okla., Dr. Kerri Bates of Harlington, Texas, and Dr. John Spitler of St. Louis. Offertory gifts were presented by James Baer, uncle of the bridegroom and Benji Baer, cousin of the bridegroom. Servers were Sunnye Carlisle of Lilbourn and Samantha Rellegert of Uniontown.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Glaus of New Madrid and Mrs. and Mrs. Wayne Pingel of Perryville.
The bride is the granddaughter of Ginny Glaus of Benton and Doris Smith of Kelso and the bridegroom is the grandson of Rosella Pingel of Perryville.
Music for the occasion was provided by organist Geri Beussink of Jackson, aunt of the bride and vocalists Mark Kohlfeld and Mike Kohlfeld of Cape Girardeau, cousins of the bridegroom.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a pearl-colored floor length wedding gown of whisper chiffon. The V-shaped halter style bodice was accented with an intricate embroidery and beaded band at the waist. Her veil was created with satin cording along the edges and included a detachable cathedral length tier. The bridal bouquet, which was made with callas, spidermums, lilies ad a mixture of greenery, was designed by Candy's Sunshine and Flowers.
Heidi Glaus of St. Louis attended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Beth Stufflebam of Ballwin, sister of the bridegroom; Kathleen Miles of St. Charles, Kara Wood of Fayetteville, Ark., Emily Neller of Springfield and Kathryn Rooney of St. Louis.
Randy Besand of St. Louis served as best man. Groomsmen were Mark Layton of Shreveport, La., John Squires of Prairie Village, Kan., Donald Wood of Fayetteville, Gideon Hixon of Dallas, Texas, and Logan Stanley of Joplin. Ushers were Eric Danker of Fenton, Joseph Scholl of Fulton and Mark Winschel of Ballwin.
Candlelighters were Amanda Rose and Jodi Vann of St. Louis.
Attending the guest book were Erin Pfau, cousin of the bride and Whitney Pingel, cousin of the bridegroom and both of Cape Girardeau. Assisting with programs were Brooke Beussink of Jackson, cousin of the bride and Lindsey Pingel of Cape Girardeau, cousin of the bridegroom.
Wedding coordinators were Linda Spitler, Ella LaValle and Kay Kimes.
Rivers catered the reception at the Eagles Lodge in New Madrid, where dinner music was performed by Bob Donze. The Boogie Chyld Band of St. Louis provided music for the after-dinner dance.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the bridegroom's parents for the wedding party and guests, was held June 6 at the New Madrid County Club. The meal was catered by Dr. Mike Barnes.
The new Mrs. Pingel graduated from New Madrid County Central High School and William Woods University in Fulton. She earned a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield and is completing a second year post-doctoral residence at the St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute in St. Louis.
A graduate of St. Vincent's High School in Perryville, the bridegroom also graduated from Westminster College in Fulton with a degree in mathematics. He is the offensive coordinator for the Westminster College football team.
Following a honeymoon trip to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico, they are residing in St. Louis.
