JACKSON - Bernie Sims, 87, formerly of Anniston, died at 6:10 p.m. June 2, 2003, at the Monticello House in Jackson.
Born Nov. 16, 1915, in Steele, son of the late B.H. and Cora Ellis Sims, he lived most of his life in Anniston where he was a retired self-employed contractor. He was a member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge and Anniston Christian Church and a past member of the East Prairie Lions Club.
On Nov. 30, 1933, in New Madrid, he married Lena Irene Johnson who survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Sims; and two sisters and one granddaughter.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Larry J. and Linda Sims of Mesa, Ariz.; his daughter-in-law, Addie Sims of East Prairie; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Alfred Baker of Marion, Ill., Ginger and Stanley Riehn of Oak Ridge, Beverly and Dennis Tidwell of Bloomington, Ill., and Cherie and Ronnie Abner of Brunswick, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Thursday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston with Martin Lucas officiating.
