DEXTER - Imogene Chism, 75, died Jan. 9, 2004, at her home in Dexter.
Born June 10, 1928, at Birds Corner to the late Robert Lee and Florence Gertrude Eaton Springs, she had lived in Chicago until 1962 when she moved to Bloomfield. In 1971, she moved to Dexter where she resided until her death. A member of the Clines Island General Baptist Church, she and her husband owned and operated the Chism Strawberry and Fish Farm for many years.
On July 29, 1944, at Birds Corner, she married Thelmo Andrew Chism, who preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1985.
Also one brother, George Springs, preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1992.
Surviving are: three sons, James Chism and Charles "Chuck" Chism of Bloomfield and Robert "Bob" Chism of Dexter; two daughters, Mrs. Verlin Ray (Sandra) Hill of Bloomfield and Mrs. Jeff (Debbie) Snider of Dexter; one stepbrother, Henry Denton of Thebes, Ill.; and 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Mike Watkins of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery at Bloomfield.
