Born June 12, 1950, in Senath, daughter of Louise Burton of Dexter and the late James Burton, she had lived in Anchorage, Alaska; Phoenix, Ariz.; Hatton, N.D.; and Niceville, Fla., before moving to Dexter in 1991. A member of the Faith Community Church of Dudley, she was a retired information management technician with the U.S. Air Force and had served for 20 years.
In addition to her mother, survivors include: one son, Chris Close of Dexter; one daughter, Sara Slusher of Dudley; three brothers, Donald Burton of Bell City and Jim Burton and Jackie Burton of Idalia; three sisters, Phyllis McFarlen of Dexter, Shirley Jones of Paris, Tenn., and Linda Vargo of Omaha, Neb.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Don Burton; and one sister, Julia Sue Sanders.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Miles Meadows of Dudley will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with the Stoddard County Veteran's Honor Guard conducting military honors.
