New Madrid welcomed visitors to its annual Christmas Candlelight Tours and Open House Friday and Saturday. The public could tour the Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site, Higgerson School and the New Madrid Historical Museum. Mike Comer, director of the Hunter-Dawson Historic Site, prepares to light one of the home's many oil lamps which set the mood for the evening holiday tours.
