SIKESTON - Approximately 4,000 rodents paid with their lives during the first annual elimination campaign sponsored by the City of Sikeston, Lions Club and McKnight-Keaton Grocery Company.


SIKESTON - Ten members of the 1941-42 Bulldog high school basketball squad have been awarded letters. They are: seniors, Clem Beal, D.B. Waggoner, Leonard Crase, Lowell Skelton and J.M. Arnold; juniors Wayne Ables and Tommy Roberts, Bob Mitchell; sophomore, Billy Jo Buchanan; and freshman W.C. Andrews.

SIKESTON - Tharon E. Stallings, real estate and insurance man and a member of the Board of Education, District R-6 the past three terms, has filed as a candidate for re-election to the Board with its secretary, Roger Bailey, and subject to the school election next Tuesday.

SIKESTON - Dr. Dewey Urban of Sikeston has been installed as president of the College of Generalists in Dentistry in Chicago, Ill. Urban explained that the college is comprised of dentists who "can do anything in general dentistry, bordering on specialization, and able to do all phases of procedures."

RISCO - The strains of the Olympics theme song make Nancy Wheeler's heart beat just a little faster. In just a few months, she will be among the athletes and performers taking part in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. For a 15-year-old small town girl, the trip is a wish come true.


NEW MADRID - Voters in the five school districts which education New Madrid County school children will be casting ballots for school board members in the April 7 election.
