PUXICO -- A crew of 18 students and two staff members from the Mingo Job Corps in Puxico traveled to St. Louis Tuesday to board an airplane to Texas where they will aid in the search for debris from the space shuttle Columbia.
"We work in coordination with the Mark Twain Forest Service," said Wendell Clinton, assistant work program officer for the corps. "They had received a call from FEMA I guess asking if they knew anyone who could help with the search."
As a result, Clinton said that the corps was contacted and a team was put together.
"We continually train our students for events such as this," Clinton said. "We try to keep a crew or two on hand that can be sent to help."
The crew will be stationed in Hemphill, Texas, during the search. They are due back in two weeks.
