SIKESTON - Those who finished the senior lifesaving class on Aug. 17, taught by Edwin Webster, were Ed Dan Renner, John Boardman and Bill Sikes.


ORAN - Miss Mary Lee Campbell of Festus came last week to live with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Witt.

SIKESTON - This is "rodeo week" in Sikeston and the festivities will start next Thursday, although officially the three-day Western fiesta does not begin until Friday night.

SIKESTON - Cable World plans to expand its present services by adding, among other things, KBSI-TV Channel 23 from Cape Girardeau, which went on the air this week.

BENTON - The Scott County Democratic Committee recently announced the selection of Barbara Criss of Benton as their nominee for the position of Scott County Circuit Clerk. Criss was chosen to fill the term left vacant by the death of Pat Eftink of Oran. There are no plans by the Republican County Committee to make a nomination at this point in time.


SIKESTON - The 1993 Clean Pesticide Container Recycling Program, a voluntary recycling effort for Missouri's ag dealers and farmers, came to Sikeston Wednesday at Carson Chemical Company. Plastic pesticide containers were collected, ground into pellets and made available for use as recycled materials in new pesticide containers and other industrial products.


SIKESTON - After posting but one win on Tuesday against Jackson, the Sikeston tennis team came back with a strong effort to defeat New Madrid County Central 8-1 on Wednesday, ending a two-month losing streak for Sikeston.
