CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Sikeston's softball team suffered a 5-0 road loss to Cape Central on Tuesday, allowing all five runs in the second inning.
"It was defensive errors again," said Sikeston coach Jenny Hobeck. "We gave them seven or eight outs in that inning. That really cost us."
Molly Brinkmeyer pitched for Sikeston, allowing six hits and one walk with one strikeout. The Lady Bulldogs had just two hits with singles from Paige Silverthorn and Jessica Owens. For Cape Central, Scott City transfer Shana Wadlington picked up the win, allowing two hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. She also led the Lady Tigers offensively with two RBIs.
