Lady Hawks win 20th game

Tuesday, February 19, 2002

PORTAGEVILLE - The Kelly Lady Hawks improved to 20-4 on the season with a 73-50 win on the road on Monday at Portageville.

Kelly led 18-12 after one quarter and 46-27 at the half. They continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 27-23.

"We're very proud of the girls," said Kelly head coach Rod McQuerter. "To win 20 games this year is a remarkable achievement. Tonight the girls accepted the challenge and played hard and played good defense. Our philosophy is simple: have fun and play hard. And the girls have done that this year."

Kelly was led by Bridgett Riley's 14 points. Christy Kluesner added 11 and Ashley Payne had 10 points.

Janil Booker led the Lady Bulldogs with 24 points.

Kelly will play at Oran on Thursday at 5 p.m.
