MOREHOUSE - Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crumpecker are the parents of a new daughter, Ann Marie, born in Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
CHAFFEE - Investigators are looking for a fire bug who may have set four fires in the last two weeks. A hotel fire here pushed the damage total over $1 million. The fires have been set in Scott, Stoddard and Butler counties.
SIKESTON - The Jaycees held their annual radio day on three stations - KYMO, KSIM, KMPL - Tuesday. Money collected for ads given by the Jaycees will go into the general operating fund of the organization.
SIKESTON - Three employees of the One-Hour Cleaners, 112 S. Scott St., were overcome by carbon monoxide fumes Wednesday morning. Rescuers were called to the scene at 11:19 a.m. by John Swinney, after Lillian Swinney and Myra Hill were found unconscious inside the business. "It was a carbon monoxide overload," explained Lt. Paul Boyd of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
SIKESTON - The talk is of big bucks, land grabs, bankruptcies and millionaires. It isn't another government bailout, but the annual Sikeston Optimists Monopoly Tournament. Final preparations are being made for the tournament, which will be conducted at the Sikeston Inn. The Monopoly tournament is the main fund-raiser for the "Children's Shoes" program.
