ST. LOUIS - David Lee McSwain, 54, died March 4, 2002, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Born Jan. 13, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late James Lee and Mary Magdalen Burger McSwain, he was a computer programmer for Ralston Purina, Peabody Coal, Brown Shoe Company and Enterprise Rent-A-Car in St. Louis. A graduate of Illmo-Scott City High School, he also graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. While in high school, he played in the local band "The Jaguars." Following graduation from college, he was a teacher for Bell City Schools in the early 1970s.
On Jan. 1, 2002, in Commerce, he married Cheri Lynn McKee who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Mark McSwain of St. Louis; two brothers, Bruce McSwain of Memphis, Tenn., and Danny McSwain of Scott City; one sister, Carol Innis of St. Louis; and one grandson, Brett McSwain.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where parish prayers are scheduled for 8 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City with the Rev. David Coon officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery at New Hamburg.
