EAST PRAIRIE - Mary E. Denton, 84, died at 7:10 p.m. March 3, 2002, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.
Born April 8, 1917, in Columbus, Ky., daughter of the late Carl Boswell and Gertrude Hite Hall, she lived in East Prairie most of her life, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
In October 1934, she married William Denton who preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1975.
Survivors include: two sons, Sammy Denton and Dillion Denton of East Prairie; five daughters, Marie Scott of Charleston and Joyce Lay, Rita Dowdy, Katie Hodges and Ann Watson of East Prairie; and 30 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Five daughters, one sister, three brothers, two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter also preceded her in death.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday. George White, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
