SIKESTON -- Filing is under way for Missouri school boards, and after one day the Sikeston R-6 district already has three contenders.
Filing for the April 5 election began at 8 a.m. Tuesday and will end at 5 p.m. Jan. 18.
Three positions with three-year terms are up for grabs in the Sikeston R-6 district, and the incumbents -- board president Greg Colwick and board members Rick Adams and Bill Priday -- have all refiled.
Those who wish to file for the Sikeston R-6 district can do so at the office of Rice P. Burns Jr. located at 733 North Main St. in Sikeston, where they will fill out a declaration of candidacy, Burns said.
Board member qualifications include being a resident taxpayer of the district who has resided in Missouri at least one year and is at least 24 years of age.
