Little Rock hands Sikeston second World Series loss

MATTOON, Ill. -- The Sikeston 12-and-under all-star team dropped its second game in the Cal Ripken World Series on Monday, falling to Little Rock, Ark., 2-1 in eight innings.

Sikeston still has two games left in the tournament. They will next play tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Hawaii.

On Monday, Little Rock grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning but Sikeston tied the score in the top of the fifth when Hunter Dillender singled home Adam Martin.

Little Rock won the game in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI-double by Spencer Stewart.

Sikeston's Nick Lambert pitched six innings in getting the no-decision. He allowed one run off two hits and one walk.

Tyler Ramey was charged with the loss after 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Sikeston out-hit Little Rock 6-to-4 but they struggled getting timely hits.

Scott Droddy led Sikeston with two hits.
