SIKESTON - Billy Ray Oakley, 72, died at 10:04 p.m. May 5, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born April 26, 1933, in Hayti, son of the late Walter and Allie Ingould Oakley, he had been a route salesman for Tom's for 15 years and a for Hostess for 17 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church in Sikeston, and a member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Association.
On Oct. 11, 1952, in St. Louis, he married Ruth Weddle who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Stephen Paul Oakley of San Pedro, Calif.; two daughters, Christine Elizabeth Terrell and Ruth Ann Oakley of Sikeston; two brothers, Marion Oakley of Wyatt and Paul Oakley of Springfield; two sisters, Dorothy Cargil of Collierville, Tenn., and LaVone Crego of Battle Creek, Mich.; and two granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Ann Oakley, on Jan. 6, 1956.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where a memorial service will follow at 2 .
