SIKESTON - Charles Melburn Reaves, 55, died at 4:55 a.m. Aug. 26, 2003, at Forest Park Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Jan. 1, 1948, in the Cotton Hill Township of Dunklin County, he was the son of Melburn J. and Dorothy Watson Reaves of Searcy, Ark., and a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ. He was a teacher for Gideon Public Schools for five years before moving to Sikeston. He was a counselor for Lee Hunter Elementary School in Sikeston and then served as principal at Morehouse Elementary School. Reaves was most recently a 4-H youth specialist in New Madrid.
On Aug. 17, 1971, in Jeffersonville, Ind., he married Pat Cassetty who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include: one son, Matt Reaves of the home; one daughter, Sarah Reaves of the home; and three sisters, Carol Burchfield and Becky Bennett of Searcy and Linda Crossett of Bartlett, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Shady Acres Church of Christ with ministers Pat Hogan and Johnny Hester officiating.
Burial will follow in Malden Memorial Park Cemetery.
