PARMA - Two people are in custody in connection with a fatal assault of a Parma man, according to New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, sheriff's deputies along with SEMO Major Case Squad began the investigation into the death of Van Patterson. Patterson was found in his rural home.
Officials stated Patterson died due to head trauma. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted today to determine exact cause of death, officials said.
The two persons, who were taken into custody Wednesday, are being held in the New Madrid County Jail. As of press time, charges had not been filed and the names of the suspects were not being released.
