SIKESTON - Miss Mary Jane Sikes entertained at a luncheon of six covers Monday to compliment her house guest, Miss Mary Lou Hobbs of Arcadia, Calif.

SIKESTON - Boots Schrader was chosen Bowler of the Year in the Women's City Association at their banquet last week.

SIKESTON - Bruce Shaner of the Daily Standard placed third in a benefit media race at Sikeston International Raceway. Will Morris of KSIM Radio placed second.


JEFFERSON CITY - Missouri Delta Community Hospital's expansion program has received approval from a state review committee. The Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee must approve all expansions for hospitals and nursing homes.

SIKESTON - For several years, Sikeston didn't participate in the state's Community Development Block Grant program. This year was different - the city cleaned up in housing rehabilitation funds. Joe Driskell, director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, recently announced the awarding of over $19 million in block grants for projects in 61 cities and counties. Of that amount, Sikeston received $423,000 for the rehabilitation of homes in the Olive Street area.


SIKESTON - School was back in session Monday for many Sikeston Elementary and Secondary school students, who will attend five weeks of summer school. Students from throughout the district will attend classes at Southwest Elementary School.


BELL CITY - Chaddette Maddox was crowned Miss Bell City recently.
