SIKESTON - Local men in uniform include: Marion Simpson and John Marshall from the Malone and Rex Theaters; Harold Ancell of Buckner-Ragsdale Co.; James B. Turner of the Claude Turner Garage; and others.


SIKESTON - Dr. and Mrs. W.A. Anthony will leave Tuesday for Columbia to attend the graduation of their daughter, Miss Margaret Anthony, from Stephens College.

SIKESTON - Something new and most interesting has been added at the council chambers of the Sikeston City Council - pictures of 15 of Sikeston's 17 mayors since it became a city in 1891 have been hung on the wall behind the long council table.

MATTHEWS - The school bell has rung for the last time for Lucille Givens, principal of the elementary school in Matthews. Retiring after 42 years of working with youngsters, she won't have to worry about school bells, books or bus schedules.

NEW MADRID - On May 27, Jarrett Lawfield, Bradley Medling, Heather Ramsey and Michelle Thomason graduated as co-valedictorians from New Madrid County Central High School. All had 4.0 grade point averages.


SIKESTON - Sikeston Public Schools Surgical Technology Program, in cooperation with Missouri Delta Medical Center and area hospitals, recently presented the 1993 graduates. They are: Kristi Hux, Barbie Pattengill, Ginger Wessling, Lisa Spencer, Tiffany Owens, Julie Wilson, Leta Swinney, Carl Cartwright, Joy Wilson, Derek Dye, Maryann Renaud and Ellen Goetz. Clare Eisenbach is supervisor of Health Occupations and Ann Costin is the school's instructor.
