KENNETT - Rex L. Jeffress, 82, formerly of Bernie, died Feb. 5, 2005, at his home.
Born March 9, 1922, in Bernie, son of the late Delmer S. and Viola Hopkins Jeffress, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bernie. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II and retired as a salesman for the Tayloe Paper Co. in Memphis, Tenn.
In May 1941, at Piggott, Ark., he married Betty I. Allen who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Joel Glenn Jeffress of Bernie and Rex L. Jeffress II of Kennett; two daughters, Cheryl Wilcoxson of Kennett and Kim Ott of Flippin, Ark.; six grandchildren, Shannyn Wilcoxson, Kim Hollahan, Doug Wilcoxson, Kortney Ott, Jeffress Bristow and Julie Jeffress Cude; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glendale Jeffress and Carlyn Jeffress; and one sister, Betty Winters.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Scott Andrews will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
