SIKESTON - Wednesday has been designated Nursing Services Day at Missouri Delta Community Hospital. Joanne Moore, director of nursing, explained, "The purpose of the day's activities is to recognize the nursing services department as a whole on a collective day, not just one section of the department as in the past."

SIKESTON - For the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce, the wait for a decision on ownership of the local state license bureau continues to be long and drawn out. Local Chamber officials are waiting on the new governor to use one of his few uncontested appointments in the selection of a license bureau operator.


LILBOURN - State Auditor Margaret Kelly was in town to deliver the results of an audit by her department. Her findings ad recommendations were released at 7 p.m. today at the New Madrid VFW Hall on Highway D. Although the paper trail is lacking, state auditors said Tuesday evening they believe at least $3,400 in fines and other payments to the city of Lilbourn are missing. Kelley reported to some 50 Lilbourn city residents that "it appears that at least $3,448 was collected but not properly recorded and deposited."
