SIKESTON - High school notes: With a cast of 12, the junior high class will present Donald Payton's one-act comedy, "Life O' the Party" in an assembly Oct. 30. The cast is: Buddy Cox, Willadean Richards, Leta Fay Sutton, Ann Gentry, Peggy Baker, John Harper, Eddie McAmis, Bob Scott, Jimmy Keasler, Sue Sikes, Fielding Potashnick and Janet Lewis.
CHARLESTON - Mrs. Harry Warren Jr. was named Woman of the Year following the Business and Professional Women's Club first banquet Thursday night. Mrs. Warren E. Hearnes, sister of Mrs. Warren, was named honorary Woman of the Year.
SIKESTON - About 60 persons representing 70 percent of the city and county governmental units in the six-county area of Southeast Missouri attended a public hearing to discuss the formation of a regional planning commission.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Development Council unanimously endorsed a new street plan and gave its support to a bond issue to improve the city's sewage treatment plant during a meeting Monday night at the city municipal building.
ST LOUIS - The Charleston Blue Jays remain undefeated after taking on the challenge of John Burroughs of St. Louis Saturday. The team's record is now 7-0 after winning the game, 18-13. Charleston had not allowed a first quarter touchdown all season until Saturday.
CAPE GIRARDEAU - The streak has stopped, but their undefeated record is still intact. The Sikeston freshman football team is now 5-0 after defeating Cape Central 46-12 on Saturday. Their eight game shutout streak has now come to an end. "Undefeated and not scored on in a season is nearly impossible," said Sikeston coach George Hale.
