DEXTER - Morris Hampton, 74, died Oct. 12, 2007, at his home.

Born May 10, 1933, in Stoddard County, to Reba Cutler Hampton of Dexter and the late Chalmer Hampton, he was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter and the owner and operator of H and H Construction Company in Dexter. A U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War, he was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Dexter Chapter No. 311, the Dexter Masonic Lodge No. 532, 32nd Degree KCCH, Scottish Rite, Valley of St. Louis and Moolah Shriners.

On March 19, 1954, at Dexter, he married Betty Jean Hooks who preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 1987. On March 20, 1993, at Poplar Bluff, he married Gloria Garrett who survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Lance Hampton and Grant Hampton of Dexter; one stepson, J. Felton Brigance of Poplar Bluff; and five grandchildren.

Services were conducted today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Revs. Lonny Mittag and Louis Lowe officiated.

Burial followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
