Sikeston man sentenced

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- A Sikeston man was sentenced to 135 months in prison for distributing "crack" cocaine.

Matthew Perry, 38, received the sentence on one felony count of distribution of five grams or more of cocaine base in federal court Friday.

The charges stem from an incident on Oct. 4, 2005, when the Missouri State Highway Patrol was conducting an undercover operation in Sikeston, where they were using a confidential informant to purchase cocaine base. The informant told officers that he had purchased the cocaine base from Perry in the past and could do so again.

The informant called Perry and arranged a delivery of cocaine base. Perry and the informant met and Perry sold 13.9 grams of a form of cocaine base, known as "crack" cocaine, to the informant for $500.
