SIKESTON - C.O.'s Market and Convenience Store is celebrating 25 years of business.

"We started with a 20 by 30-foot building, a small cooler and a couple of shelves of groceries," said Clem Scheffer, who owns the business with his wife, Evelyn. About a year after opening, they added gasoline and wider driveways, next came a new cooler and soft drink machines.

"About 12 years ago we increased the size of our building to carry more and different grocery items and provide a place for customers to eat," Scheffer said. "Over the years we have tripled the size of the store to provide a greater selection."

Recently the store added home appliances. According to Scheffer, the store carries a variety of models and sizes in refrigerators, electric stoves, washers and dryers. While the models are pre-owned, he explained each is checked by trained appliance technicians.

"We have always worked hard to provide only the best in equipment and service," said Scheffer. "We intend to do so with this venture."

CO's Market and Convenience Store is located on Highway H, three miles north of Miner, next to Scheffer's Office Furniture. For more information contact the Scheffers at 472-3003 or 472-3659.
