SIKESTON - Mrs. Alice Harris has moved to Sikeston from Poplar Bluff and she and her daughter, Jean Swaim, are residing at 616 Linn St.

ST. LOUIS - A native of Southeast Missouri will assume command of the aircraft carrier USS Randolph in ceremonies at Norfolk, Va., Friday, the Navy announced today. He is Capt. Harry L. Harty Jr., 44, who was born in Bloomfield and grew up in Sikeston. He is the son of the late H.L. Harty Sr., a Sikeston banker, and his mother will attend the ceremony in Norfolk.

SIKESTON - Laura Southern, head cheerleader for the Sikeston Varsity Cheerleaders, was named homecoming queen Friday night at the Sikeston-Dexter game. Southern is the 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Southern. The new queen was escorted by Wayne Coleman.

SIKESTON - The 1992 Junior Miss Sikeston is Kara Ford, daughter of Tony Ford and Patricia Holmes. First runner-up honors went to Heather Alexander, daughter of Glen and Donna Alexander and second runner-up was Sara K. Byrd, daughter of Alan and Paula Byrd. Phil and Jan Barkett are parents of the third runner-up winner, Lizzie Barkett, and Angela Zorbas, fourth runner-up, is the daughter of Tom and Athena Zorbas. The fifth runner-up honors went to Nicki Lear, daughter of Judith Lear.

SIKESTON - Powerful Jackson defeated Sikeston's tennis squad 7-2 Thursday but there were bright spots for the SHS team. Renae Thomas as praised by coach Lynne DeWitt. "Renae lost (to Christy Roethemeyer) last time," the coach said. Sikeston's junior varsity got singles wins from Stacie Lambert and Amy Lay, and a doubles win from Elizabeth Looney and Lay.
