First day of school: Aug. 18

KINDERGARTEN: The Sikeston Kindergarten Center began taking appointments for its late kindergarten enrollment set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 11.

Parents should bring the child along with a state-issued birth certificate, shot record, Social Security card and Medicaid card (if applicable) to the enrollment. Children who were 5 by July 31 are eligible for kindergarten.

Children will have to be screened and enrolled before they can start school. The screening and enrollment process will take between one to two hours. Call the Kindergarten Center at 471-0653 to make an appointment or for further questions.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS: New students and parents are advised to go to the nearest school in their neighborhoods. Those who are unsure about which school to go to should contact Cindy Griffin at the Sikeston R-6 Board of Education office at (573) 472-2581.

MIDDLE SCHOOL: Book checkout for seventh grade is 8-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m. Aug. 10 and for sixth grade is 8-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m. Aug. 11. Make-up day for both grades is 7:30-11 a.m. Aug. 12.

JUNIOR HIGH: Book checkout for ninth grade is 8-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m. Aug. 10 and for eighth grade is 8-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m. Aug. 11.

SENIOR HIGH: Book checkout dates are: seniors on Aug. 9, juniors on Aug. 10 and sophomores on Aug. 11. Students can get their books, schedules, etc. from 8-11:30 a.m. or 1-3 p.m. New students are advised to come in as early as possible and to call the school at (573) 472-8850 for more information.

First day of school: Aug. 16

Students new to the district may enroll by reporting to the building principal's office. New students must bring birth certificates, immunizations records and appropriate academic records at the time of enrollment. New enrollment will be Aug. 4 - Aug. 12 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

First day of school: Aug. 17

Pre-enrollment will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8-12 in the principal's office at each school. Any student who has not pre-enrolled by Aug. 12 will not be allowed to enroll or attend school until Aug. 19.

Immunization record, birth certificate and appropriate academic records must be provided at the time of the enrollment. Proof of guardianship will also be required of students living with caregivers other than their parents.

First day of school: Aug. 18

Elementary grades K-5 will enroll from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 8 (teacher assignments posted in the lobby). Middle School grades 6-8 will enroll from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 8-11 (students will receive schedule, locker assignment and a supply list). Enrollment for high school will be from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with Aug. 8 for seniors; Aug. 9 for juniors; Aug. 10 for sophomores; and Aug. 11 for freshmen (Students will receive schedule and locker assignment).

Students new to the district will enroll from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 5 with the following needed for enrollment: birth certificate, Social Security card, updated immunization records, proof of residency, emergency contact numbers and previous school records.

First day of school: Aug. 17

DOYLE ELEMENTARY (grades K-2): New students can enroll Aug. 9-16. Parents/guardians should bring the following documents: birth certificates, Social Security card, proof of residency and an updated shot record. Preschool students can enroll Aug. 16 and 17.

MARTIN ELEMENTARY (grades 3-6): 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8. have to bring birth certificate, social security card, shot record and proof of residency. JUNIOR HIGH (grades 7-8): Enrollment begins 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 10.

HIGH SCHOOL (grades 9-12): Seniors and juniors can receive their schedules from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 9; sophomores and freshmen will get their schedules from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 10.
