POPLAR BLUFF -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported several accidents in the Troop E region which resulted in injuries to drivers and passengers.
Travis McCord, 20, of Risco was driving on U.S. Highway 62 at state highway 25 in New Madrid County at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, when he failed to yield and pulled into the path of the vehicle driven by Ronnie Tipton, 54, of Clarkton.
McCord was taken to the Malden Medical Clinic for treatment of minor injuries. Tipton, who sustained moderate injuries, was transported to Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
A Sikeston woman sustained moderate injuries late Thursday after her vehicle struck a sign and a tree.
According to reports, the accident occurred at 10:10 p.m. on Scott County Route H, two miles north of Blodgett, when Alyssa DeWitt, 39, lost control of her vehicle, which ran off the roadway, then struck a sign and a tree. DeWitt was transported by air to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Jeffery N. Gunter, 33, of Sikeston was moderately injured Friday afternoon when he was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 61/62 in Mississippi County, 1/2-mile south of the Illinois Line.
Reported at 2:52 p.m., the accident occurred when Gunter failed to negotiate a curve. His vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned. He was taken by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Mitchell W. Thacker, 17, of Gideon, was injured in a one-vehicle accident early Saturday as he was driving on New Madrid County Road 264, one mile north of Gideon. According to the report, Thacker lost control of his vehicle which ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned. He was transported by ambulance to Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
