PORTAGEVILLE -- Emmanuel Caldwell, 81, died July 8, 2005, at Portageville Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 10, 1923, in Arkansas, son of the late Tisha and Sidney Caldwell, he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Zion Rock Missionary Baptist Church. He had retired from the City of Portageville Street Department.
His wife, Annie B. Caldwell, survives.
Other survivors include: one son, Joe Louis Caldwell of Cleveland, Ohio; six daughters and one son-in-law, Lottie Higgs, Joyce Partee and Dorothy Caldwell of Portageville, Pauline Neweke of Kansas City, Darlene Caldwell of Nashville, Tenn., and Loraine and Terry Long of Lilbourn; one sister, Rebecca Wright of Tucson, Ariz.; and 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.
Visitation is from noon Friday until time for services at 1 p.m. at Zion Rock Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Anderson will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
