NEW MADRID -- Alice Louise Hockersmith Patterson, 78, died at 5:30 a.m. July 12, 2005, at her residence near New Madrid.
Born March 25, 1927, at Charleston, daughter of the late Willard Thomas and Effie Mae Mansfield Hockersmith, she lived most of her life in New Madrid County. She was a homemaker, seamstress, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the best friend anyone could have. She was also a member of the Lilbourn Baptist Church.
On Oct. 5, 1944, at New Madrid, she married Raymond Patterson who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Shirley Patterson, Roger and Jerrie Ruth Patterson and Phillip Patterson, all of New Madrid; one sister, Martha Alvina Howard of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa Ann and Charles Brown of Cape Girardeau, Sue Ellen and Daryl Swims of New Madrid, Chuck Patterson of New Madrid and Christy and Jeremy Ferguson of Marston; and four great-
grandchildren, Kristopher Lee Lyons of New Madrid, Garrett, Natalie Ann and Gabriel Brown of Cape Girardeau; and a host of relatives and many friends.
One brother, Willard Emro Hockersmith; and one sister, Ruth Hockersmith, preceded her in death.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be at 2 p.m. Friday with Gary Henson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
