Speakout 7/11

Monday, July 11, 2005

I called Speakout about a week ago to find out if anyone could tell me why the hummingbirds have left so early this year. I have about 15 feeders and no birds. I don't want to take my feeders down because they might come back. Can somebody let me know why the birds are gone? I am 82 years old and I miss my birds. Somebody let me know where they went please.

I have a question. Somebody explain to me if this is legal. I just got off the phone with my child support case worker who told me I am not going to get my child support check they have in for 30 days because I am bothering her. And if I don't quit bothering her, I will not get my money, period. I know that cannot be legal. They tell you that your court order is just a suggestion, but can I make a suggestion to these judges? They should start making these child support caseworkers spend an hour or two in jail for contempt of court, they will start enforcing the court's order for child support. It isn't necessarily the father who isn't paying, it is the child support caseworker not enforcing it because they don't want to be bothered with their job and earning their money.

I would like to Speakout about the whole Medicaid issue. I know how to fix the problem. First, help the ones who are working and trying to make a living. Everybody that is not working, shut them completely off except for elderly and the truly disabled. Give it a week. They will all get off their lazy butts and get a job when they realize the government won't give them everything for free. Then, have somebody from the welfare office and sit in the bingo halls every night and the ones that are there, if they have money to go to bingo every night then they have money to get their own groceries. You walk into bingo halls and you constantly see someone selling their food stamps so they can play bingo every night. Those are the people who are messing up the Medicaid thing.

I have about 30 years of Good Housekeeping and Reader's Digest magazine that have been stored in a cedar closet. If any library or public school would like them they would be free to a library. They really belong in a reference library.

I'm just calling concerned. I sure wish some of these property owners would clean up their yards. It is such a disgrace to drive by and trash is blowing in other people's yards that they have to pick up. It is not their place to be picking it up. And another thing, why can't they take pride in what of they have got. This is the land of the freedom and the brave and also it should be the land of clean yards, not trash.

I would like to Speakout about a mechanic that was out at Jarvis. I took my car out there this afternoon. I was having trouble with the steering column. The lock on it. The man said bring it on out, he looked at it, he showed me how to fix it and he didn't charge me a bill. I would like to especially thank that man out there. I don't remember his name, but he is a very special man.
