CHAFFEE - Arthur Emmet Free, 82, died April 16, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 7, 1922, in Chaffee to the late Arthur and Marie Lyre Free, he was a letter carrier with the U.S. Post Office in Chaffee. A veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II, he was a member of the Naval Reserve. Also he was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chaffee and the National Association of Letter Carriers.
On Jan. 17, 1948, in Jackson, he married Olga Fluegge who survives of Chaffee.
Also surviving are: one son, Clifford Free of O'Fallon; one daughter, Marnet Eftink of Jackson; one brother, Larry Free of Poway, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee and will continue from noon Wednesday until time for services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chaffee. The Rev. Wayne Schwiesow will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau with graveside military rites provided by the Missouri Funeral Honors Program.
